Choosing the Right Facial Oil

Stop slathering on grandma's moisturizer and go back into ancient times with facial oils....

I know, it's easy to feel reticent when it comes to the overly hyped skincare products, but lately I've gone for the "holistic"approach when it comes to hydrating and nourishing my skin. Now, there are a lot of products to choose from, and it doesn't help when Sephora sends you daily emails on the latest face oils, leaving you to feel uncertain on whether or not you purchased the all encompassing facial oil. Do not fret, for I am here to guide you through these difficult moments.

Disclaimer: My skin ranges from normal to dry

L'Occitane Divine Youth Oil: The name does not lie, for this product is truly divine. The Divine Youth Oil is an extension from their Anti-Aging line, and it is a lightweight face oil that's great for sensitive skin. The scent is gentle and absorbs quickly, giving your skin a radiant glow. If I could I would swim in this product, looking like a Greek Goddess emerging from the sea, unfortunately this product is definitely on the pricier side and goes by quickly, so no becoming a Greek Goddess for me any time soon. Although 3-4 drops of it is enough for your face and neck, this product really does diminishes quickly. And as much as I love a radiant glow, the Divine Youth Oil is too pricey for my night-time skin routine,I suppose I can give it a miss....for now.

Caudalie Polyphenol C15 Overnight Detox Oil: A great affordable alternative would definitely be Caudalie Detox Oil. Although this product doesn't leave your skin glowing, it does make your skin look soft and dewy. The scent, well, it definitely has a herbal fragrance, but it's not overpowering and dissipates quickly once the oil is fully absorbed. 3-4 drops is all you need and, I definitely have seen a difference in my skin after a month, less blemishes and dried patches, also noticed a reduction in my pores. This is definitely one of my MUST have products, it just does so much more than a night cream and doesn't leave my skin feeling like a pepperoni pizza.

Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate: This is definitely a popular product, and I adore the packaging; makes me feel like I'm a potion maker when applying. Described as an "elixir of pure essential oils", contains lavender that definitely helps soothes the skin and puts you at ease. I used this product all of last winter, and although I wouldn't go as far as calling it a "miracle worker" it did help hydrate my skin, especially during a day out in the harsh cold. Also this product will last you a long, long time, so no need to purchase it in the large size, and again another great product that's not too heavy for the skin, your face will definitely drink up this potion.

Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil: Rich in Vitamin E and fatty acids, this is great not only for your skin but hair too. A few drops of these can leave your skin feeling hydrated and dewy. I would recommend using this if your face is dry and flaky, since it does help restore hydration, especially during the winter time.  Some people do find this product heavy, however, there is a lighter version as well.  What I like about this product, is that it's simply made with one ingredient and benefits in many ways.

Ole Henriksen Truth Serum Vitamin C Collagen Booster: Okay, technically this isn't a face oil, but I am truly in love with this product, and when you love something you don't care to define it. This is my everyday skincare product that I apply in the morning, and it just does so so much for me. Made up with Vitamin C, this product will hydrate, nourish, and best of all will make your skin GLOW....it just makes me want to sing the song "Let it Go" from the film Frozen, but instead say "Let it GLOW, let it GLOW." This product really deserves it's own blog post, but I'm impatient, because thats what love can do to you....I'm okay....moving on...you just need maybe 2-3 drops and you will definitely see a difference, more even skin tone, brightness, and a faced filled with glee....

Hope you get a chance to try out these face oils!
