Mexico City The Floating Market: Photo Diary III

Diego Rivera Theatre Mural
Diego Rivera Theatre Mural: Love how this mural encompasses the history of Mexico

When visiting Mexico City take a day exploring the street markets and the floating gardens. Although this may appear to be a tourist hot spot, you'll be able to enjoy a unique lively experience of bargaining with shop vendors and walking the cobbled streets while admiring the local street art.

The Floating Gardens

The Floating Gardens is similar to a floating market, where families gather on the weekend to ride on a boat enjoying their michelada ( a Mexican beer served with assorted sauces and spices on the rim with lime) empanadas, and listening to old traditional songs performed by a mariachi band. This was definitely a fun experience, where boat vendors come up to you selling various items, ranging from exotic fruits to mariachi bands.

  1. Wow, your photos are stunning!! I've never been to Mexico before, but a friend of mine went to Mexico City last year and told me it was just an incredible city to experience.

I can't believe I've never heard of the floating market!

  16. Yay more Mexico City pictures! I agree with everyone else, these are great shots. The city looks so vibrant and full of life. I go to Mexico a lot, but each time I visit it's always to the tourist parts/beaches. I might have visited the city once when I was young, but I hope I can go again one day :)
